Newark – New Castle County Paramedics responded to Reybold Road and Sunset Lake Road for the report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment, according to Sergeant Abigail E. Haas, spokesman for NCC Paramedics. Has sad that Paramedics arrived on scene to find a two vehicle head on type collision, in which the drivers of both vehicles were still entrapped.
Crews found a 73 year old male driver of a sedan was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 20 minutes before being freed by firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company utilizing the “Jaws of Life”. He was treated on scene by the Paramedics for lower leg, chest, abdominal, and head injuries, before being transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in serious condition.
The second patient, a 27 year old male operator of a sedan was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 30 minutes before he was freed by firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company utilizing the “Jaws of Life”. He was treated on scene by the Paramedics for arm, leg, possible internal and head injuries, before being flown to the Christiana Hospital aboard the Delaware State Police Helicopter, in serious condition.
Crews also rescued a 5 year old female passenger of the same vehicle as the 27 year old male was treated on scene by the Paramedics for head and possible internal injuries, before being transported to the Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland, aboard the Delaware State Police Helicopter, in critical condition.
