Man Arrested For Stealing Political Sign

Wilmington Delaware State Police have arrested Jeffrey R. Waxman, 47, of Wilmington, on Saturday, September 3, 2016, when he turned himself in at Troop 1, Penny Hill, where he was charged with one count of Theft Under $1500. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and released on his own recognizance.

The investigation began on Sunday, August 28, 2016, after a 54 year old Wilmington, DE resident, who is currently running for a political office, responded to Troop 1 to report that approximately 425 signs belonging to her campaign have been removed from numerous locations throughout New Castle County. The victim stated that the thefts occurred sometime between Saturday, August 27, 2016 and Sunday, August 28, 2016. After conducting several interviews troopers were able to identify Waxman as a suspect in the theft of a single sign which had been posted in the area of 1300 Lovering Avenue, Wilmington, according to police.
