Newark – Newark Police Detectives have arrested Derrick Hudson Jr., 20, and Lewis Henderson , 23, for the, August 17, 2016, robbery of a 28 year-old male University of Delaware student that occurred on Thorn Lane in Newark, DE, according to NPD Spokesman Lt. Bill Hargrove.
The orginal incident occured on August 17th at approximately 1:10 a.m. on the unit block of Thorn Lane. The victim, a 28 year old male University of Delaware student, was walking with his bicycle when two black male suspects approached him from both sides and assaulted him. The suspects stole his backpack, containing paper notebooks and a Dell Inspiron 7000 series computer, and then fled eastbound on foot, according to police. The victim was treated by EMS and transported to Christiana Emergency Room for further evaluation and is currently in stable condition
Hargrove said that after an extensive investigation Newark Police Detectives were able to identify Derrick Hudson and Lewis Henderson as the perpetrators of this robbery. On September 22, 2016, Hudson was arrested, without incident at his residence in New Castle, DE. Henderson was arrested without incident near his residence on September 23, 2016. Both Hudson and Henderson were arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, $25,000 secured bond.
Hudson was charged with Robbery 1st and Conspiracy 2nd while Henderson was charged with Robbery 1st, Conspiracy 2nd, and Criminal Mischief, said Hargrove.
