LEWES (Sept. 6, 2016)– DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation will close the easternmost entrance of the Junction & Breakwater Trail for minor reconstruction work from Sept. 14 through Sept. 16.

Approximately 100 feet of trail will be reconstructed to widen the trail and create a connection to the Georgetown-Lewes-Cape Trail. The work will require the closure of the trail between Gills Neck Road and Monroe Avenue. All other portions of the Junction & Breakwater Trail will not be affected and will remain open.

The reconstruction work will be completed by Grassbusters Landscaping under a DelDOT contract. The company also constructed the nearby Lewes Trail – a segment of the Georgetown-Lewes-Cape Henlopen Trail.

The Junction & Breakwater, Lewes and the Gordons Pond Trails are part of a 15-mile regional trail network linking Lewes and Rehoboth. In July surfacing repairs were made to the Junction & Breakwater Trail making it safer and more comfortable for trail users.
