South Carolina Elementary School Shooting

Update: Authorities said that a teacher and two children have been shot and taken to the hospital.

TOWNVILLE, SC – A spokesman for the Anderson County Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said that ” said injuries were reported but could not confirm how many people were shot.”

Scanner traffic indicates that a medical helicopter is on standby near the Townville, South Carolina elementary school.

Reports indicate that a suspect was taken into custody after a shooting at Townville Elementary School.

Authorities initially received reports of a possible shooting just before 2 p.m. eastern.

Cole said parents should head to the Oakdale Baptist Church on nearby Highway 24 to pick up their children. Students are being transported from the school by bus to that location.

The Anderson County coroner said a death is also being investigated at an address on Osborne Road in Townville. There was no immediate word if the incidents are connected.
