Vehicle Stop Results in Drug and Gun Seizure

Newark – New Castle County Police have arrested Kathlyn Hart , 31, and James Flowers , 30, for weapon and drug related charges following a motor vehicle stop in the community of Greenbridge.

Police said that on Saturday,September 3, at around 10:00 a.m., New Castle County Police patrol officers were in the community of Greenbridge conducting proactive patrols.

Officers observed James Flowers operating a motor vehicle in the unit block of Greenbridge Dr. Officers were aware that James Flowers’ driver’s license was suspended and conducted a vehicle stop, according to police. 

Police said that they approached James Flowers and the passenger, Kathlyn Hart, and observed drug paraphernalia indicative of heroin use in plain view in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and subsequently located 1.76 grams of heroin, a handgun with an obliterated serial number and drug paraphernalia, officials said.

Kathlyn Hart was charged with felony possession of heroin in a tier-1 quantity, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned and committed to Baylor Correctional Institution after failing to post $9,100 secured bail.

James Flowers was charged with felony possession of heroin in a tier-1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and failure to have insurance in possession. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $3,300 secured bail.

The defendants were issued no-contact orders with each other, officials said.
