Hartly – Delaware State Police have arrested Kenneth Wasser in connection with the armed robbery of the Royal Farms located in Hartly which occurred early this morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale.
Hale said that the incident occurred this morning, Sunday, October 9, 2016 at approximately 12:16 a.m., as a male suspect, later identified as Kenneth N. Wasser, III, 23, of Hartly, entered the Royal Farms, located at 6538 Halltown Road.
Wasser, who was armed with a knife, approached the sales counter and confronted a female employee. He then demanded money from the cash register, according to Hale. The clerk complied with Wasser’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him.
Troopers said Wasser then exited the store and was seen entering the back seat of a dark colored four door vehicle which was being driven by a second subject. The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction.
Detectives arrested Wasser earlier this evening after he turned himself in to the Smyrna Police Department on an unrelated theft of a motor vehicle warrant. Wasser was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, 2 counts of Aggravated Menacing, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at JP Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $50,000.00 secured bail.
