Home Invasion Attack, House On Fire

Milton – The Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion style robbery that occurred south of Milton early Sunday morning, according to Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard D. Bratz.

Bratz said that at around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016  an elderly man was discovered by his neighbor in the 17,000 block of Pettyjohn Road in Milton.  Bratz said the neighbor observed smoke in the area and responded toward the residence, the victim was found outside near the roadway.

According to Bratz the victim was asleep when unknown subjects entered the residence and struck the victim in the head with an unknown object where he subsequently went unconscious.

The victim’s residence was on fire and had to be extinguished by the fire department, said Bratz. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local area hospital.

Police said that the suspect or possibly multiple suspects were believed to be males. Troopers continue to investigate.
