Upon a search of the home, detectives said that they located 1,312 bags of heroin, 9.1 grams of cocaine and two handguns- one with an extended 30-round magazine. Phiser said that detectives also located information that allegedly linked the drug activity to a hotel room in the 200 block of Chapman Road in Newark.

DCS and SIS established surveillance on the hotel, and observed Carl Lawson arrive and go inside, Piser said.  Detectives obtained a search warrant for the hotel room and Carl Lawson’s vehicle.  Upon a search of the hotel room, detectives discovered that Carl Lawson had allegedly attempted to destroy marijuana and other evidence when police entered.  Upon a search of Carl Lawson’s vehicle, detectives located a handgun with an extended magazine, according to Piser.
