Pedestrian Struck by a Train

Newark – Troopers are currently on the scene of crash involving a pedestrian who was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train north of Harmony Road, according to Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard D. Bratz.

Bratz said that the preliminary investigation revealed the incident occurred around 3:43 p.m. this afternoon when a northbound Amtrak commuter train struck a pedestrian that was on the tracks. The subject, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The conductor was able to bring the train to a stop after the collision.

The investigation into this incident is in the early stages and more information will be released when it becomes available.
