Stolen Truck Pursuit Leads To Arrest

New Castle – Early today at about 12:45 a.m., A-Squad officers were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Churchmans Road when they observed a grey Toyota Tundra stopped at a red light at the Christiana Road intersection, according to New Castle County Public Information Officer JP Piser.

Piser said that officers conducted a computerized registration check and found that the truck was stolen.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle by

activating their lights and sirens, but the driver, later identified as Jamere Roberts, did not comply, Piser said.

Piser went on to say that Jamere Roberts fled into a parking lot along Pulaski Highway, where he turned the vehicle around and struck two police vehicles before coming to a stop.

Officers ordered Jamere Roberts out of the stopped vehicle, but he again did not comply.  Officers were forced to break out the driver’s window and remove Jamere Roberts from the vehicle.  He was taken into custody without further incident.
Jamere Roberts was charged with felony receiving stolen property, felony criminal mischief, felony resisting arrest, disregarding a police officer’s signal to stop, four counts of second-degree reckless endangering, misdemeanor criminal mischief, driving without a valid license, failure to stop at a red light, and driving at an unreasonable speed.  He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $6,150 secured bail.
