Firefighter Dies After Long Fight

Wilmington Fire Chief Anthony Goode announced the passing of Senior Firefighter Ardy Hope this afternoon.

Hope has been in Crozer Chester Hospital since the September 24, 2016. She received burns to more than 70 percent of her body when she was injured trying to rescue another firefighter.

The same Canby Park rowhome blaze took the lives of Capt. Christopher Leach and Lt. Jerry Fickes.

Firefighter Brad Speakman spent six week at the same hospital recovering from injuries he received during the same fire. He was released in November.
