Person Killed After Being Struck By Amtrak Train

Wilmington – Troopers are currently on the scene of a crash involving a subject who was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train south east of Banning Park, Wilmington.

Preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 8:04 p.m. this evening when a southbound Amtrak commuter train struck a subject that was on the tracks. The subject, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The conductor was able to bring the train to a stop after the collision.

The investigation into this incident is in the early stages and more information may be released as it becomes available.
