Man Shot In Butt In Wilmington

Wilmington – On Friday, January 27, 2017 at approximately 9:45 p.m., Wilmington Police Officers responded to the area of 9th and Kirkwood Street in reference to a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire. Arriving police units were unable to initially locate a victim or a shooting scene, according to a authorities.

Officials said that a few minutes later police were notified that a 20-year-old male victim had arrived via private vehicle to the Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks area. The victim is described as in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicated that this shooting had occurred in the area of 9th and N. Pine Street and assisting officers were able to locate a shooting scene at this location. The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation, according to police.
