New Castle Gas Station Robbed

New Castle – Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of an area food mart that occurred last night, according to Delaware State Police Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale

Hale said that at approximately 9:18 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017, as a male suspect entered the Shell Food Mart located at 299 Christiana Road, New Castle. The suspect then approached the sales counter where he confronted a male employee and implied that he was armed with a weapon, said hale.

Hales said that the suspect ordered the employee away from the cash register and then proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of money from the register. He then exited the business and was last seen fleeing on foot in a westbound direction. The clerk was not injured and a weapon was never displayed.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 25 years of age, 5’11”-6’00” tall, weighed 160-175 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black jacket, brown hooded sweatshirt, dark colored jeans, black shoes, and had a mask partially covering his face.
