Newark – New Castle County Police have arrested 25-year-old Denzel Cardwell for drug related charges in the community of Brookside, according to New Castle County Police Spokesman J.P. Piser.
Piser said that during the month of December, 2016, County Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) officers received information about a man selling heroin in Brookside area. Through an investigation, MET officers were able to identify the suspected drug dealer as Denzel Cardwell, said Piser.
On Dec. 29, MET officers established surveillance on Denzel Cardwell and attempted to take him into custody while he walked in the unit block of Marrows Rd. Piser said that upon seeing police, Denzel Cardwell fled but was apprehended after a brief foot-pursuit.
MET officers located 260 bags of heroin on Denzel Cardwell’s person- with an approximate weight of 3.9 grams and an estimated street value of $600, according to Piser.
Denzel Cardwell was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin in a Tier 2 quantity, possession of heroin in a Tier 3 quantity and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $25,000 cash only bail. He was issued a no contact order with the community of Brookside and Marrows Rd.
