Police Have Arrested Two For The Murder Of A 64-Year-Old Wilmington Store Clerk

Wilmington – On January 9, 2017 at approximately 1:03 p.m. Uniform Services Division officers responded to the Corner Market located at Lancaster Avenue and N. Clayton Streets in reference to a possible shooting investigation, according to Wilmington Police.

Arriving units were met by an ambulance crew who was traveling in the area had been flagged down in reference to a male down in the store. The male, identified as a 64 year old Wilmington man, was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics for an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The Criminal Investigations Division Homicide and Violent Crime Unit assumed the investigation.

After continuous investigation by Detective McKenzie Kirlin and members of the Criminal Investigations Division Homicide and Violent Crime Unit, along with community cooperation, Devonte Dorsett, 22, and a 14-year-old, both of Wilmington were developed as suspects in the homicide investigation of Santanu Muhuri, on January 09, 2016 at 101 N. Clayton Street at The Lancaster Market, according to Wilmington Police.

Arrest warrants were authorized for Devonte Dorsett and the 14-year-oldĀ for the following criminal charges:

*Conspiracy 1st Degree
*Robbery 1st Degree
*(2) Counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
*Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
*Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
*Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
*Resisting Arrest

14-year-old
*Murder 1st Degree
*Conspiracy 1st Degree
*Robbery 1st Degree
*(2) Counts Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
*Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

Devonte Dorsette was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of 2.2 million dollars cash bail. The 14-year-old was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $700,000 cash bail.
