Newark – Today, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 12:30 a.m. Newark Police officers responded to the area of Barksdale Road and Colonial Court for the report of a robbery that had just occurred, according to Newark Police Spokesman Lieutenant Bill Hargrove.
Hargrove said that a 23-year-old female victim reported that one, possibly two, people pushed her to the ground and took her cell phone as she walked along the sidewalk in that area. The victim stated that she had been waiting for friends in the area when she was approached by the male suspect. As she walked past, the suspect suddenly lunged toward her grabbing her cell phone, said Hargrove.
The victim struggled with the suspect and was pushed to the ground, according to Hargrove. The victim thinks there may have been a second suspect who helped pull her down from behind. The first suspect is described as a white male, possibly Hispanic, heavy set, unshaven, with baggy pants.
The second suspect is described only as possibly a female. Both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during this incident.
Hargrove said that the victim is not affiliated with the University of Delaware.
