Georgetown – Georgetown Police have arrested three Virginia men after they were found to be in possession of drugs during a traffic stop in Georgetown, according to Georgetown Police.
Authorities said that the incident occurred Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at approximately 10:30 a.m., as Georgetown Police were on patrol. Officers observed a silver in color Toyota Camry traveling South on Dupont Boulevard commit a traffic violation, said police.
After contacting the male operator as well as two male passengers of the silver Camry, Officers discovered that none of the occupants possessed a valid driver’s license, according to officials. Authorities said that officers also learned that the silver Camry was a rental vehicle in which none of the occupants were permitted to operate.
Due to the lack of a licensed driver, and an absence of the vehicle’s renter, the silver Camry was towed. Prior to towing the silver Camry, an inventory search was conducted in which approximately 139 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine was located in the trunk, according to police.
All occupants were taken into custody and transported to the Georgetown Police Department.
The operator of the silver Camry, 30-year-old Lavel Cherry of Norfolk, Virginia was arrested for Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity, Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity. Conspiracy 2nd degree, Driving with a valid license and Inattentive Driving. Cherry was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $51,200 secured bond.
31-year-old Reenato Mizzell of Suffolk, Virginia was arrested for Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity, Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity and Conspiracy 2nd degree. Mizzell was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $51,000 secured bond.
30-year-old Keithel Reid of Norfolk, Virginia was arrested for Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity, Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity and Conspiracy 2nd degree. Reid was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $51,000 secured bond.
