New Castle – The New Castle County Police have identified John Marcus Fryer, 29, from the 1100 block of Worth Lane in Claymont as the victim from the shooting that occurred during the early morning hours last Saturday, according to New Castle County Police Spokeswoman Tracey Duffy.
Duffy said that on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at approximately 4:00 a.m., New Castle County Police responded to the 1500 block of Surry Court in Coachman’s Manor Apartments for a shooting. Officers located the deceased victim on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim returned to the apartment with his girlfriend when an unidentified suspect emerged from the side of the building, said Duffy. As the suspect ran pass the couple, he fired a single shot striking the victim, according to authorities. The suspect was then observed fleeing to the opposite side of the building.
A K-9 team also responded to the area to assist with a search for the suspect.
