Georgetown – The Delaware Department of Correction, Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown, is looking for two individuals who absconded, according to Delaware Department of Correction Spokeswoman Kate Weber.
Weber said, Tuesday, February 14, 2017, warrants for escape after conviction were issued for Chad Swartley, 23, of Frankord and Mark Amendt, 26, of Georgetown after the two willfully failed to return from approved work passes. The two walked away on February 13, 2017, according to Weber.
Weber said that Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities where the Department of Correction manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. These centers are not secured like Level 5 prisons, as offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs, or attend approved treatment sessions.
