Update: 10-Year-Old Hit By Truck After Running Into Street

Wilmington –  The Wilmington Police department investigation into last evenings incident indicates that a 10 year old juvenile male ran into oncoming traffic in the 1200 block of Linden Street.

Authorities said that the juvenile male was struck by a Dodge Ram pick-up truck operated by a 44 year old female who remained on scene and was cooperative in the investigation.

The juvenile is  listed in stable condition and no charges have been filed against the operator of the vehicle involved, according to police.

The accident investigation from the 1200 block of Linden Street continued into the early morning hours today.

Wilmington – On Tuesday January 31, 2017 at approximately 5:38 p.m. Wilmington Police Officers responded to the 1200 block of Linden Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a juvenile pedestrian that was struck.

Reports from the scene indicate that the child may have been trapped under the vehicle for a time.

The juvenile was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in serious but stable condition with head and facial injuries. The operator of the striking vehicle remained on scene.

The accident investigation is in the preliminary stages and ongoing at this hour.
