Wilmington Man Shot In Broad Daylight

Wilmington – On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 5:10 p.m., Wilmington Police Officers responded to the area of the 400 block of W. 29th Street in reference to a shots fired complaint, according to Wilmington Police.

wilmington-hospitalOfficials said that arriving officers located a shooting scene, however, no victim. As officers were securing the scene, 911 was notified that a 25-year-old male had arrived via private vehicle at the Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room.

The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to is left hand and groin areas and is described as in stable condition, according to authorities.  The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking in the 400 block of W. 29th Street when gunfire erupted and he was struck.

The victim was able to seek assistance and was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. There is no suspect description available at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information relative to this incident is asked to call Detective William Ball at 302-576-3631.
