Woman Reportedly Kidnapped, Punched, Forced To Withdraw Cash From ATM

Wilmington – New Castle County Police are currently investigating a kidnapping that occurred in the community of Top of the Hill Apartments, according to New Castle County Spokeswoman Corporal Tracey Duffy.
reported-kidnappingDuffy said that on Monday, February 13, 2017 at about 11:00 p.m., County Police were dispatched to an area hospital for a reported kidnapping that occurred in the community of Top of the Hill Apartments.

Police contacted the victim who advised that she exited her car at approximately 8:45 p.m. when she was approached by a man armed with a handgun,  according to Duffy. The suspect forced the victim into a vehicle and drove the victim to an ATM on Marsh Road, where he demanded the victim withdraw money, said Duffy.

Duffy said that the suspect talked out loud with himself during the incident. The suspect physically assaulted the victim by punching her, according to Duffy. The suspect and victim returned to the community where the suspect released the victim and fled, according to authorities. The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a thinly built middle aged white male approximately 5’8” tall wearing a ski-mask. A dark colored SUV may be involved in this incident, said Duffy.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
