70-Year-Old Woman In Critical After Being Trapped In Her Car

Newark – At approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday,  March 22, 2017, New Castle County Paramedics and Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company were dispatched to the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Otts Chapel Road for a motor vehicle crash with a report of entrapment, according to New Castle County Paramedic Spokeswoman Class Yvonne T. Russell.

Russell said that upon arrival, County Paramedics found the patient, a 70-year-old female, confined to her vehicle. Personnel from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company successfully extricated the patient.

The patient suffered injuries to her arms and her abdomen. The patient was transported via Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital. The patient was in critical condition at the time of transport.

Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
