Dover Police Arrest New Castle Man On Drug And Firearm Charges

The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested 24-year-old Brandon Thompson on drug and weapons offenses following a traffic stop on Friday night, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said that at approximately 10:04 p.m., Thompson was stopped at S. DuPont Highway at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. for an equipment violation.

Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a handgun in the vehicle in plain sight, according to Hoffman. Officers took Thompson into custody and a further search of the vehicle and Thompson led to the discovery of 13.2 grams of marijuana, .035 grams of heroin, and 4.2 grams of MDMA.

Thompson was released on $2,310 unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of Controlled Substance (Tier 1 Qty-MDMA)
-Possession of Heroin
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
