Man Charged With Shoplifting At Store Near Newark PD

Newark – On Monday, February 27, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. the Newark Police Department responded to a shoplifting in progress at 245 South Main Street, Park N Shop Liquors, according to, according to Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

Upon arrival, Officer Andrew Golden immediately took the defendant, Billy Prodromidis, 39, of Newark, into custody. Prodromidis had been held at the scene by a witness who observed Prodromidis’ attempt to leave the store with a bottle of alcohol without paying for it, said Nelson.

The witness advised that Prodromidis dropped the bottle of alcohol, causing it to break, when he was confronted, according to Nelson. The store valued the alcohol at $24.99.

Prodromidis was issued a summons for shoplifting and released pending a future court appearance at Newark Alderman’s Court 40.
