Police: Georgetown Man In Stolen Truck Linked To Burglaries

Millsboro – The Millsboro Police Department has arrested a Georgetown man after it was revealed that he was in possession of a reported stolen vehicle and several other reported stolen items, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal David Moyer.

Moyer said that a Millsboro Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Wilson Hwy, in Millsboro , on Thursday March 2nd, when he observed a pick-up truck with heavy windshield damage. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of the Seaford Police Department, according to Moyer.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he identified the driver as Carmelo Watson, 36 of Georgetown Delaware, added Moyer.

Moyer said that Carmelo Watson was placed under arrest and a search of the stolen vehicle revealed a reported stolen Television, PlayStation and a large amount of suspect stolen jewelry.

The Delaware State Police Property Crime division confirmed that many of the items were stolen from burglary cases in Georgetown and Dagsboro, according to Moyer.

Carmelo Watson was arrested by the Millsboro Police Department and charged with Receiving Stolen Property valued over $1500, Driving while suspended or Revoked, Failure to have insurance identification in possession, Driving and Unsafe Motor Vehicle and Failure to have Registration Card in Possession.

Watson was subsequently turned over to the Property Crime Detectives from the Delaware State Police. he was arrested and charged with 3 Counts of Criminal Mischief under $1000,
2 Counts of Theft under $1500, 1 Count of Attempted Theft under $1500, 1 Count of Possession of Burglar Tools, 2 Counts of Burglary 2nd Degree and 1 Count of Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree.

Watson was arraigned out JP2 in Rehoboth and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $7500 secured bond.
