16-Year-Old Girl Gunned Down In Wilmington

Wilmington – On Wednesday April 26, 2017 at approximately 9:42 p.m., Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the 900 block of Kirkwood Street in reference to a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire in the area.

As officer’s were arriving, they were directed to a residence in the 900 block of Kirkwood Street where 16-year-old female victim, Tynesia Cephas, was located. The victim was suffering from gunshot wounds to her torso and arm areas.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

The investigation remains active and ongoing at this hour and no suspect information is available.
