Drive-By Shooting Turns Into Gun Fight In Dover

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting in the area of Simon Circle on Wednesday morning, just after midnight, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said according to the 24-year-old victim, he was in the area of the Simon Circle Community Building, 900 Block of West North Street, Dover, when an unknown vehicle drove by with the front passenger holding a shotgun.

The victim stated that he took cover and watched the vehicle travel towards the entrance of Simon Circle when the passenger shot at him. The victim returned fire with a handgun he was legally and openly carrying, and the suspect vehicle fled, according to Hoffman.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his hands and face and was treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.
