Laurel – On Thursday, March 30th, 2017, the Laurel Police Department arrested 33-year-old Catherine Waples and 61-year-old George White, both of Laurel, according to police.
Officials said that the pair was contacted by officers during a traffic stop where Waples was driving while her license was suspended. A search of the vehicle yielded the discovery of 6.1 grams of Crack Cocaine, according to the Laurel Police Department.
Officials said that while processing Waples at Laurel Police Department she assaulted a Laurel Police officer and escaped from the police department. Waples was captured shortly after with the assistance of Delaware State Police Aviation and surrounding municipal departments.
The Laurel Police officer was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital to be treated and released. Waples was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #2 for Assault 2nd degree on a law enforcement officer, Resisting arrest with force, Escape 2nd degree, Failure to comply with taking photos/ fingerprints, Possession of crack cocaine, Conspiracy 2nd degree and Driving while suspended/ revoked; she was committed to the Department of Corrections in default of a $15000.00 cash bond and $10000.00 secure bond.
White was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #2 for Possession of crack cocaine, Tampering with physical evidence and Conspiracy 2nd degree; he was committed to the Department of Corrections in default of a $25000.00 probation detainer and $10099.00 secure bond.
