University Of Delaware Police Investigating Possible Sex Crime

Newark – The University of Delaware Police sent out an alert to students and staff at around 1:00 a.m. this morning, Friday April 15, 2017, regarding an unlawful sexual contact incident.

UD Alert: The Newark and University Police are investigating an unlawful sexual contact which occurred in the area of Haines St. near Lovett Ave.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a gray zipped up hoodie and khaki pants.

He fled northbound on Haines St. Members of the community are reminded to be vigilant.

This incident comes just two days after a the university alerted students and staff to a incident involving a man following female student to her dorm.

In that incident an 18-year-old University of Delaware student, reported that she was walking on Wyoming Road in the area of S. Chapel Street when she noticed a vehicle, described as a small maroon sports utility vehicle, that appeared to be following her.

The victim stated the vehicle parked on the side of Wyoming Road and the driver began to yell vulgarities at her. The victim stated that she then walked to the front of a University of Delaware dormitory and noticed the suspect was now following her on foot.

The victim was able to enter the dormitory without further incident. Officers from the University of Delaware Police and Newark Police searched the area for the suspect and suspect vehicle with negative results.
