12-Year-Old Boy Riding His Bike Robbed In Newark

File

Newark – On Saturday May 20, 2017 at 2:54 p.m. Newark Police Officers responded to the area of Barksdale Road and Casho Mill Road for a report of two black males between the ages of 13 and 16 who had just stolen a bicycle from a 12-year-old male, according to Newark Police Spokesman Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the victim stated one of the suspects demanded that he get off of the bicycle and placed his hand in his pocket. The second male then got on the victim’s bicycle and both suspects fled, according to Nelson.

Officers later spoke with a witness who observed a 14-year-old male acquaintance of his who had possession of the victim’s stolen bicycle, said Nelson.

The witness was able to recover the victim’s bicycle and turned it over to police. On Monday May 22, 2017, officers arrested the 14-year-old on charges of Robbery 2nd Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Theft Under $1500 and Breach of Release.

The breach of release charge stems from the violation of a Judge’s order that required the 14-year-old to remain at home, according to Nelson.

The second male suspect has not yet been identified, added Nelson.
