Woman And Robber Struggle In Newark Restaurant Parking Lot

Newark – On Tuesday May 2, 2017, at approximately 10:28 p.m., the Newark Police responded to the parking lot of TGI Friday’s, located at 650 South College Avenue, for a report of a robbery, according to NPD Spokesman Sergeant Gerald Bryda.

Bryda said officers made contact with the 40-year-old female victim who stated that she was leaving the restaurant and entering her vehicle. The victim had just finished placing her child in the car when she was approached by the unknown suspect.

The suspect grabbed onto her purse and tried to pull it away. During the struggle the victim was knocked to the ground and her purse was stolen, said Bryda. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries and did not seek medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-years-old, thin build, baggy clothing, wearing a blue zip up hooded shirt with the hood up.
