Woman Killed In Head-On Collision In Glasgow Identified, Alcohol Believed To Be A Factor

Glasgow – The New Castle County Police (NCCPD) , Traffic Services Unit, continues to investigate the fatal motor vehicle crash on Frazier Road that left Deborah Jackson, 59, of Bear, Del. deceased, according to NCCPD Spokeswoman Cpl. Tracy Duffy.

Duffy said the preliminary investigation revealed that a Saturn sedan, operated by a 24-year-old man was traveling southbound on Frazier Road while a Hyundai was traveling northbound on Frazier Road in the opposite direction. The Hyundai operated by an 18-year-old woman crossed into the southbound lane causing the Saturn to swerve into the northbound lane. It is believed that the driver of the Hyundai realized they had swerved into the southbound lane and swerved back into the northbound causing both vehicles to collide head-on, according to Duffy.

Deborah Jackson, the passenger in the Saturn, was trapped in the vehicle due to heavy damage and was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and remaining passenger of the Saturn were transported to Christiana Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and admitted. All occupants of the Hyundai were also transported to Christiana Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe alcohol and inattentive driving are suspected factors in this crash.

Glasgow – New Castle County Police (NCCPD) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Frazier Road, according to NCCPD Spokesman M/Cpl. Heather Carter.

Carter said yesterday, May 18, 2017, at about 11:30 p.m., County Police were called to the 2700 block of Frazier Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles were involved in a head on collision. One of the vehicles, a Saturn, was occupied by a 24-year- old male driver, a 59-year-old female passenger, and 25-year-old female passenger.

The second vehicle, a Hyundai, was occupied by an 18-year-old female driver, an 18-year- old female passenger, a 16-year -old female passenger, and a 17-year-old male passenger. All occupants were provided first aid medical attention at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics.

The 59-year-old female passenger of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene . All other occupants were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic Services Unit Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
