Exclusive: Violent Pike Creek Crash Traps Woman

Pike Creek  – At approximately 11:15 a.m. this morning rescue crews from Aetna, Mill Creek and Cranston Heights along with New Castle County Paramedics responded to the intersection of Creek Crossing and Old Coach Road for a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole with a woman trapped inside.

New Castle County Paramedics, first to arrive, found passers by attending to an elderly woman who was trapped in her vehicle. The vehicle had struck a utility pole snapping it in two and partially bringing the lines down near the roadway. The impact sent the car down a small hill coming to rest along side a steep ravine

Within a few moments rescue squads arrived on scene and began to extricate the woman from her car. Crews worked to brace the car, so it would not slide further into the ravine, which allowed them to safely remove the woman from the car.

The woman was alert and talking but no official word on her injuries at this point. The woman was transported a short distance by ambulance to Pike Creek Bible Church where she was transferred to Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation) for transport to the hospital.
