Motorcycle Accident In Newark, Helicopter Lands At Fairfield

Newark – At approximately 2:50 p.m. this afternoon, New Castle County Paramedics, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company and Delaware State Police Aviation Section (Trooper 4) was dispatched to the intersection of New London Road and Covered Bridge Farm Lane in Newark for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon County Paramedics arrival the patient,  67-year-old male, was in care of personnel from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company. The patient suffered injuries to his head, arms and back after being removed from his motorcycle. The patient was treated on scene for his injuries.

The patient was taken to the old Super Fresh parking lot in Newark’s Fairfield Shopping Center to await transport via Delaware State Police helicopter, Trooper 4.

As Trooper 4 arrived the patient was transferred to the helicopter and transporter to Christiana Hospital, accompanied by County Paramedics who were still treating the patient. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
