Shots Fired At Popular Newark Watering Hole

Newark– The Delaware State Police is investigating an incident in which a Newark man was shot at last night at a local area bar east of Newark, according to Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. last night, Monday, June 19, 2017, as a 33-year-old Newark man had a verbal argument with another patron at the Rackers Bar & Billiards located at 1232 Capitol Trail in Newark.

The incident turned physical after the suspect displayed an unknown make and model handgun, according to Bratz. The victim struck the suspect which knocked him to the ground. It was at this time another patron grabbed the victim and forced him out the door of the bar. The suspect then fired multiple shots as he fled the area, said Bratz. The male victim was not injured and could not provide any further information. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 20-30 years old and possibly fled in a silver Honda Civic.

This incident is still under investigation by the Delaware State Police. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Detective H. Carroll at 302-365-8467.
