Rollover Crash Closes Highway, Three Sent To Hospital

 

New Castle  – This morning at approximately 8:40 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the Minquas and Minquadale Fire Companies were dispatched to the area of Interstate 295 Westbound and Interstate 495 Northbound for a motor vehicle crash involving rollover, according to Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said that arriving County Paramedics found a multiple vehicle crash. One vehicle had rolled over and caught fire; the patient in that vehicle was a 21-year-old female and was self-extricated prior to the arrival of County Paramedics.

She was treated on scene for wrist and facial abrasions and a possible head injury. She was transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital on board an ambulance from the Minquas Fire Company with a New Castle County Paramedic accompanying.

She was stable at the time of transport. A 62-year-old male and a 40-year-old female were transported to the hospital in ambulances from the Wilmington Manor and Minquadale Fire Companies, for minor injuries and evaluation. A 53-year-old female was evaluated on scene by County Paramedics, but refused transport to the hospital.

New Castle – At around 8:30 a.m. this morning Minquadale Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics and The DRBA Police responded to an accident near the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
Reports from the scene indicate that one car has rolled over. Multiple injuries are reported.

I-295 WB is backed up from the the 295/495 split to the middle of the bridge. Expect delays.

State Police just released a statement

Delaware State Police are currently investigating a multi-vehicle crash which occurred this morning in New Castle.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m.this morning, Friday, July 7, 2017, on westbound I-295 at the split for northbound I-495, and involves multiple vehicles. Injuries have been reported, however, the number and extent of the injuries is not known at this time.

As a result of the crash, all lanes of westbound I-295 have been closed to traffic at I-495 and commuters are asked to find alternate routes of travel.

The investigation into this incident is in its early stages. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
