Wilmington – On July 22, 2017 at approximately 10:30 am, Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the area of E. 24th and Carter Street in reference to a shooting investigation. Arriving police officers were directed to a residence located in the 2300 block of Carter Street. Inside of the residence a 29-year-old male victim was located.
The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his right leg and left arm areas. The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in the 100 block of E. 24th Street when approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect, described as a black male , 5’08 in height and approximately 150 pounds in weight began a verbal dispute with the victim. The suspect then produced a handgun at which point a physical struggle ensued, according to police. The victim was ultimately able to flee on foot, but as he was running, the unknown suspect fired a handgun at him, striking him in the arm and leg. The victim was able to seek assistance inside of a residence.
In a separate incident earlier Saturday morning, at approximately 12:25 am, Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the 1300 block of E. 27th Street for reports of a shooting Arriving officer’s located two victims in the block. The first victim is described as a 15-year-old juvenile female who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her lower back area. The juvenile female was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the A.I DuPont Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
The second victim is described as a 30-year-old male. The male victim was found to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left shoulder. He was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the hospital Emergency Room where he is listed in stable condition. Assisting officers located a crime scene in the 1200 block of E. 27th Street.
