Wilmington – On July 30, 2017 at approximately 8:23 pm, Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the area of E. 23rd and N. Pine Street in reference to a shots fired investigation. Arriving officers located a 35-year-old male victim in the 2300 block of N. Pine Street. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his right hip area.
He was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking in the block when gunfire erupted, striking the victim.
Less than an hour and a half later shots rang out once again. At approximately 9:48 pm, Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the area of the 2300 block of N. Locust Street in reference to a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire. Arriving officers located a 29-year-old female victim at E. 23rd Street and Bowers Street. The female was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her left arm. The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room in stable condition.
The second shooting occurred just three blocks away from the first shooting however police have not said whether the two incidents are related.
