Update: Boat With Four Crashes In The Delaware, Two To Hospital

Delaware City – Last night just after 10:00 pm rescue crews from Delaware City and surrounding companies responded to a call for a water rescue.

Marine units responded to the area south of Pea Patch Island (Fort Delaware) after four boaters were reportedly thrown from their boat after striking an unlit buoy.

The initial reports from the scene indicated that two of the four boaters, one being a child, had received head injuries. Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation) was alerted to the incident an was making its way to the scene.

Marine units arrived on scene and were able to take three of the patients on-board. An evaluation of the patients was made and Trooper  was canceled according to reports. The three

patients were brought back to the dock in Delaware City and were further evaluated. The fourth occupant of the boat remained with the boat as it was towed into the canal.

Two of the patients were transported to Christiana Hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. It’s not clear if the child was one of the patients that was transported.
