Car Burst Into Flames On Route 141 During Rush Hour

Wilmington – At approximately 4:25 this afternoon crews from the Talleyville Fire Company, along with Delaware State Police responded to the intersection of Powder Mill Road and Alapocas Drive, near the Nemours Estate, for a report of a car on fire.

Arriving crews found the car with heavy fire. Crews were able to bring the fire under control within a few minutes of arrival.

As firefighters inspected the vehicle they realized they needed a HAZMAT team to respond. HAZMAT crews from the Belvedere Fire Company were then called to the scene for a reported fuel spill. Belvedere worked the scene until just before 7:00 pm.

Traffic in the area was heavy as crews worked to clear the accident.

It’s unclear if there were any injuries
