Man Robbed At Gunpoint In The Newark I-95 Service Center Parking Lot

Newark- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the armed robbery of a tractor-trailer driver which occurred yesterday evening in Newark, according to  Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey Hale.

Hale said the initial investigation has determined that the incident happened on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at approximately 6:52 p.m., as a 31-year-old male was seated inside of his tractor-trailer, which was parked in the southern parking lot of the Delaware House Service Area, located at 530 JFK Memorial Highway.

It was then that the driver was approached by a male suspect who brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone, according to, according to Hale. The victim turned his wallet over to the suspect, however, refused to surrender his phone. The suspect then fled on foot and was last seen walking through the parking lot in an eastbound direction. The victim was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male 40-45 years of age. He was 5’08”-5’09” tall, weighed 170-180 lbs., and was last seen wearing dark-colored jean shorts, a green Polo type shirt, black hat, and black shoes. There is no further physical or clothing description available.
