Update – On Thursday August 24, 2017 at approximately 9:55 pm a member of the Wilmington Police Department and a member of Probation and Parole were on proactive patrol in the area of Tulip and Scott Streets. While in the area the officers observed a black male acting suspiciously and attempted to stop him. Upon approaching this male he began firing several gunshots at the officers, according to police. As a result of the investigation it was determined that both officers returned fire. Neither of the officers nor any other individuals were injured in the exchange.
The black male suspect then fled on foot. After an extensive search the suspect was not located and is outstanding at this time. This is still an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Det./Sgt. Barry Mullins at 302-576-3633. Wilmington – On Thursday August 24, 2017 at approximately 10:00 pm Wilmington Police Officers and an officer from Probation and Parole were in the area of Tulip and Scott Streets. Officers observed a suspicious black male and approached him to investigate. This unknown male then fired several gunshots at the officers before fleeing.
At approximately 12:00 this morning Wilmington Police alerted First State Update that they had the area secured and that there was a large police presence in the area. Neighbors and residents in the area were urged to remain inside their homes until the situation was resolved.
