Troopers Investigating Death Of Man Found Laying In Wooded Area

Townsend- Delaware State Police Homicide Unit detectives are currently conducting a death investigation after an adult male subject was found deceased west of Townsend late yesterday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale.

Hale said the investigation began at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017, after troopers were called to respond to Wiggins Mill Road, north of Feret Road, for the report of an unresponsive subject. Upon their arrival, troopers located a male subject laying partially in a wooded area off of Wiggins Mill Road. The subject, later identified as a 33-year-old Florida man, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics, according to Hale.

His body was then turned over to the Division of Forensic Sciences where an autopsy will be performed to determine the manner and cause of death. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

The investigation into this incident by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing. More information will be released at a later time.
