Fire Marshal: This Morning’s House Fire In Bear Was Arson, One Arrested

Bear – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this morning’s house fire in Bear, DE. was Arson, according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Robert Fox.

Fox said the Christiana Fire Company responded to the unit block of Saratoga Dr. shortly after 5:00 am for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival the Fire Department found heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence. Several neighboring companies were called to assist.

Deputy Fire Marshal’s were called to the scene and have determined that the fire was originated of the first floor and was intentionally set, said Fox. Deputy Fire Marshal’s have arrested Michael E. Williams of Wilmington and charged him with two counts of first degree reckless endangering, Arson 1st degree, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a Felony.

The fire caused approximately 200,000 dollars in damage to the residence. No Fire Department personnel were reported injured. Residents are being assisted by the Red Cross of Delmarva.
