Newark-Area Gas Station Robbed At Knifepoint

Newark – Delaware State Police is currently investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area Exxon which occurred yesterday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey Hale.

Hale said the initial investigation has determined that the incident happened on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at approximately 3:39 p.m., as a male suspect entered the Exxon located at 4600 Ogletown Road. The suspect approached the sales counter where he then brandished a knife and demanded money from the cash register, said Hale. The male clerk, who was standing behind the counter, complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him. The suspect then exited the business and was last seen running toward Harmony Road. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect was described as a white male 25-30 years of age. He was 6’00” tall, weighed approximately 200 lbs., and was last seen wearing a green shirt and a green baseball cap. There is not further physical or clothing description available.
