77-Year-Old-Woman Dead After Rollover Crash In Wilmington

Wilmington – On Friday, 29 September 2017, at approximately 3:15 pm, Wilmington Police were on scene of a single motor vehicle collision located at 7th and Woodlawn Streets, according to Police.

Officials indicated that thier preliminary investigation revealed that a Mercury vehicle headed eastbound on 7th Street was driving at a high rate of speed before it struck several cement barriers on the east side of the three-way intersection.

The vehicle overturned on its roof after striking the barriers. Officers and New Castle County paramedics attempted to render aid to the 77-year-old female driver, however, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the female victim appeared to be in medical distress prior to entering her vehicle. At this point it is unclear if the victim succumbed to injuries from the collision or from a medical condition.
