Check Out The All New Fairfield Shopping Center, Food Lion To Replace Super Fresh

Newark – It’s official! Fairfield Shopping Center will get a new grocery store in 2018. A sign posted at the corner or Route 896 (New London Road) and County Club Drive is the first indication that a new Food Lion is coming to Newark.

For years rumors about a new Fairfield Shopping Center grocery store were swirling around. In mid-February one of the businesses located in the Fairfield Shopping Center reportedly called Della Donne, the property management company, to inquire about the fate of the shopping center, according to social media reports.

The post said that the business was told that a grocery store will be replacing the Super Fresh and that an announcement was set for the end of the month.  Well, the announcement never came.

Over time employees at the strip mall reported seeing people looking at the building and others making repairs. New rumors would come and go but nothing ever materialized, until now.

While plans can always change it looks like Food Lion is planning to expand the new grocery store beyond the old Super Fresh footprint.

The real estate brochure for the property indicates that the site will be renovated with Food Lion, adding the space now occupied by the Dollar General, to the grocery stores square footage. You can view the artist renderings and more details about the renovations HERE
